Topaz Topaz / Re: Topaz Gas Regulator

Had this problem a while back, disconnect the regulator & poured terps into it. A large glob of fatty material came out. Connected the in line, turned gas on & all good. Two years on still good.

Topaz Topaz / Topaz wind deflector
September 23, 2016, 09:32:58 AM
There is a wind deflector above the window at the front of the Topaz.
Has any one had a problem with this strip, it's made from steel.
There is also a gap between the back of the deflector, about 12mm which fills with water, leaves & dirt.
When it does fill with water, how does it get out?
Could a fellow owner fill with a hose & see or some one explain.
Regards Frank.

It has pop rivets along the width, a guess would be 8.
It is also made from steel.
Mine started rusting, removed, repainted & put back in place.
The gap I filled with stikaflex, it kept filling with dust & dirt.

Hi Harry,
The legs weigh 3.5kg, yes they will lift the Topaz, although I wouldn't trust them.
Four legs, jack, wood & spare bearings live in a compartment under the toilet.

Harry,
Yes mine came with 4, but as you I tend to only use the 2 at the back.
Will have to weigh my, definatly not 14.7kg.

Hi Auscgu,
Your table drawing looks good.
It might pay to check how much the van moves when the four corner stablizers are not down.
If stopping for a short stay & you set up the table but not the stablizers, the table will move up & down every time someone gets in or out of the van.

Auscgu,
I live in Sorrento, so same water as you.
Yes, keep the tanks full & drain & refill before trips.
The water is OK to drink, just has the tainted taste when drinking coffee or tee.
My TT is six years old, so the age of the tanks may be the reason.
Even while travelling, using water daily & refilling with filtered water still has the tainted taste.
We have a 10 litre water cooler that has a push button tap, keep it behind the sink that we use for our drinking water. Store it in the sink while travelling.

Auscgu,
I filter the water with a Best filter, Still taste tainted after being in the tanks.
Also have water in the car.
Just saying it would be easier if the TT had a small drinking water tank.
Might look at installing a stainless steel one.

Auscgu,
Do you have a reason for adding town water?
We lived in our van for 3 mths & found if we stayed in a caravan park with water we hardly used our tank water.
Washing up dishes was the biggest use.
Allways filled the tanks on arrival & departure.
What I would like is a small tank, say 20 lt, with easy access to fill with filtered water that we buy from supermarkets just for drinking.
Our tank water, even after removing tanks, cleaning, still tastes different, & the water from parks also tasted different.

Hi Auscgu & Harry,
The blue item with six screws in the top is a pressure regulator.
Pump from memory is 42 psi, the regular takes it down to 32 psi, this is to potect the hot water tank.
The pumps are located in the rear side compartment, two screws to remove a panel. Unless the later model has been modified to accomidate your heater.

Auscgu,
Defiantly need yellow lights to keep the bugs at bay.
I use a flexable metre long LED strip, can hang it by the clips at the end or velcro strips sew in the back.
Goes onto the awning pole or the antiflap bar over the BBQ.
Power comes from the socket next to the BBQ.

Yes sleep across the bed, we just fit.
The switch panel is for the TV & airial booster, the third switch is power for two fans that are mounted using magnets.
Seen a few caravans with TV power & arial outlet on the outside of the van, you can then put or mount the TV in any position subject to cable lenght.

Auscgu,
Yes, covered all the internal walls from the door to the closet.
The material is very flexable & moderate to work with, glue both wall & liner, let dry then start in one corner & work from there.
We just did 3 months through the Kimberly & top of NT, noticed red dust on the inside of the windows but did not show up on the liner. Most came from the air conditioner.
A thought on the dust or having to replace the liner would be to mount 3 ply with velcro to the walls, then apply the liner to the ply. Overhead still glue direct to body.

G'day Dicko,
I retro fitted a perspex mirror to the inside of the door, not much weight. The only problem is keeping the door open to use it. I looked at the new hinge & thought it might be a friction type, similar to the overhead locker hinges.
I have been using a magnet to keep it open.
Also stuck a small perspex mirror to the door of the overhead locker above the sink for my use, shaving.
