That looks like you have a fault. We were going to buy a jetboil for coffees in the morning, but were very surprised how quick the billy boiled compared to our last camper

We use the Jetboil for boling small amounts of water - brilliant invention and great for light weight bushwalking/camping. Our Mk2 kitchen stove is too slow.

Really like your stainless sleeve to go around the gas burner - drives us nuts trying to boil the billy in wind, even when we use one of those concertina folding screens to go around the front and side of the overall stove top.
Cheers

We use a jetboil light weight hiking stove for that reason, especially when you have to mutter the SWIFT word associated with our stove. Best thing since sliced bread.

If it's too cold, wet, dark etc to be outside, we get into our sleeping bags on the bed and read. We have better lighting in the bed area, than the tent area. Plus our expanded camping chairs would fit in rather too snugly as all our gear stays packed on the tent floor.

Tvan Tvan / Re: Reversing camera worthwhile?

I have a reversing camera on the car (Prado) which I find handy for hitching up and avoiding things when reversing (especially when the back is full of stuff).

Is your PRADO reversing camera the standard one? We find  we still need a person to provide guidance when reversing/hitching. Any tips?

Thanks

General Discussion / Re: How do you dry your towel
April 20, 2018, 05:43:27 PM
We have the quick dry towels when camping, rather than bringing the home ones.

Our towel/s go over the Engl/esky to act as extra insulation whilst they also dry out. We often travel with the cold stuff in our 4wd so it gets the sun to dry out. Can't recall if the towels dry out if the cold stuff is in the TVAN, but wouldn't take long to dry once camp is set up.

Two other parts to a solution for our Mark 11 when the same issue occurred with the kitchen cover, which has happened on a couple of occasions - I got my strong mate to push really hard against the door and latch, which gave enough leverage to get it open. Second part is that the plastic edge of the catch may become burred and so using a small file, when it is finally open, shave the burrs off for a smoother opening.

A favourite mod I have is gluing rubber mat to the stone guard to dampen the impact of stones. Like these? http://offers.kd2.org/en/au/aldi/pVnp/

Hi

We are interested in seeing what others have done for lighting whilst  setting up camp for a short multi night stay. ie you want the tent up, but not the full awning - we can play around with something like that in daylight.

We used to have a strong spotlight on the roof-rack of our old Prado that could be swung around and provide  lighting to the general area that you are working in. That option has gone and we are now looking to put something in place for the new car, rather than relying on head torches.

Interested in hacks for a mount on the tvan, or car roof-rack, or any other solution that works.

Thanks

We found that once we put Conny's awning bracket on, we had a ready built holder for our kitchen lighting.

Hi where do you buy the plastic boxes are they just standard Bunnings or are they an exact fit

When I bought mine a few years back, I got them from Woollies.  My last lot were from OfficeWorks, as I couldn't find any at Woollies..

We need to do a similar thing. Our TVAN and Series 90 Prado were all matched, now we have a 150 Prado and have a problem....

Anyone know the colour details for the black paint on the stone barrier at the front of a MK 2 tvan?
