T4 / Re: T4 Rhapsody owners manual
April 08, 2025, 10:55:55 AM
Rick,
Thanks for your input. I am gathering you are generally happy with your purchase.
I know the owner's manual, without actually owning a T4, is a bit of an ask, but was hoping to go well informed on my inspection of a proposed van on Monday. Just didn't want to go in unarmed so to speak. Have made application to join the FB T4 owner's forum, but moderators/admin must be busy as approval hasn't happed yet.
Once again thanks for your input and safe travels.
Cheers,

T4 / T4 Rhapsody owners manual
April 05, 2025, 01:11:04 PM
G'Day all,
Have had a couple of TVans, have a Topaz 2 and am looking at upgrading to a T4 Rhapsody. Anybody good anything constructive, positive or negative to say please.
Also would a T4 owners manual be available before actually owning a T4.
Thanks for any input if this forum is still operating.
Cheeers,

Topaz Topaz / Re: Loss of DC power to slide out fridge.
August 08, 2024, 05:03:00 PM
Michael,
Check for 12vdc at the wiring directly behind the merrit plug in the boot. I have seen the +ve "claw" inside a merrit plug spread enough, through use, and cause issues. Otherwise it will be one of the self resetting circuit breakers behind the circuit breaker panel for the main power and HWS breaker, I would guess.
Good luck.
Cheers,

Introduction / Re: Mk2 kitchen pump not sucking water
September 15, 2023, 10:44:27 AM
The pump you refer to is generally a "whale" inline pump and will not draw water, it needs a minor head of water to work. Fill your water tank to the top and see if it will work. If not lay the pump lower in the tank cavity to allow it to prime itself. Either that or the flimsy little impellor has come off the shaft and the pump would be considered unserviceable. You could test if the impellor has come off by lowering the pump outlet hose so water runs by gravity and then push the kitchen pump switch. if the water flows well the impellor would appear to be intact. The pumps are not marvelous and could easily be replaced with a small surflow or similar.

Ropetangler,
                  Nice explanation for the name.
Our BMV700 is mounted in a panel with the AC control and HWS control to the right of the wardrobe. That panel is held in place by 6 Philips head screws into nutserts.
4 x screws in the front and 2 x screws on the right side of the panel. I had to remove these to plug in the remote Bluetooth interface to the BMV700.
Our Topaz 11 is a 2016 model.
Hope this is of some use to you.
Cheers,

We have removed our 2 x 105ah fullriver AGMs and installed 2 x itechworld 120x lithium batteries. $1798 to the door.
Replaced the projecta 25a charger with a Victron 30a lithium compatible charger with bluetooth       $278 to the door
Had a REDARC BCDC 1240D charger already and only had to reconfigure for lithium profile              $0
Original Victron BMV-700 added blue tooth module and reconfigured for lithium                               $60
Sold Projecta charger and display                                                                                                -$200
                                                                                                                                  Total cost  $1936
Replacement cost of Fullriver 105ah batteries x 2 would be around $1000

Weight saving around 50kg, double the battery capacity and half the charging time.

Life expectancy of Lithium approx 10+ yrs.

Just what we have done and are VERY happy with.

Cheers,
           Trevor :)

Ropetangler, I love the name!
If you have an outside 240v outlet, most TOPAZ do, it is generally on the right side of the fridge cavity. I have a WAECO 85ltr fridge unit which is 240vac and 12vdc. When the previous owner had the fridge installed it was only connected to 12vdc which meant the DC charger was trying to charge the batteries and run the fridge, which is counter productive really! I connected the 240vac IEC fridge lead into the rear of the external 240vac outlet which now runs the fridge on 240vac, when available, and defaults to 12vdc when the 240vac is disconnected. Track Trailer use "plug and play" 240vac cabling in the vans which would generally mean its not done by an Electrician, so they wouldn't be technically allowed to do what I have done, in the factory. I am a sparky (retired but still have my license) by the way.
Cheers,
            Trevor :)

Topaz Topaz / Re: ESC retro fit on MK11 Topaz
April 29, 2022, 11:18:25 AM
Thanks for all the replies people. We have had a couple of T Vans and agree ESC on a T Van would be unnecessary. We have also had a ZONE off road van which was equipped with DEXTER stability control which, as far as I am aware, never operated as the van used to sit well on the road at just about any speed. The TOPAZ, as stated by others, probably doesn't need ESC either, but was just looking at reducing insurance premium by 10% with my current insurer, who I do not intend to change anytime soon.
Yes tyre pressures play an important roll in most motor pursuits and I adjust accordingly.
Once again thanks for all the input and if nothing else has created a bit of action and discussion on the site.
Cheers for now and safe travels to all.

Topaz Topaz / Re: Battery Power Problems
April 14, 2022, 12:37:46 PM
We have installed 2 x Itechworld 120X lithium's in our 2016 Topaz 2. The battery's fit with no modification to the battery carrier. I also upgraded the projecta 25a charger to a Victron 30a lithium charger, with blue tooth connectivity. Itechworld do say their batteries will charge with a standard AGM charger but my experience is the batteries take a LOT longer to charge and never reach 100% capacity. >:(
For what its worth I have 4 120x Itechworld batteries through 3 vehicles and they are an excellent battery if installed and charged with the appropriate charging profile charger.
As has been said by others, electrical connections need to be CLEAN as well as tight.
Cheers,

NichBails,
I stand or sit corrected. Looks like we have more bells and whistles than I knew about.

Thanks for the input all, looks like one less thing to install on the TOPAZ.
Cheers,
            Trevor :D :D

Nichbails,
The 200 LC has ETC, (Electronic Traction Control) but not Electronic Stability Control.
2 different animals.

Topaz Topaz / ESC retro fit on MK11 Topaz
April 04, 2022, 12:24:36 PM
G'Day All,
Anybody either done themselves or had fitted ESC to the electric brakes of a 2016, or there abouts, Topaz 11.
Am considering it MAY be worthwhile for both safety and my insurance company (RAA South Australia) offers 10% discount on insurance premiums so I see the install of ESC as a win win situation. Open for comment
Thanks for your input in advance.
Cheers,

Electrical and Wiring / Re: Battery Failure
December 02, 2021, 11:40:15 AM
A simple trick to "trick" ;) ;) your smart charger is to put it in "power supply" mode for a few minutes, which generally will bring your battery voltage up to "trick" the smart charger then reset charger to appropriate mode for whatever batteries you run. Been there done that.
Can also trick with a 9v tansistor battery if you have one handy.
Cheers,

Topaz Topaz / Replacement topaz shower hose
October 20, 2019, 12:27:46 PM
Good morning group. We have a 2016 TOPAZ 2 and our shower hose has decided to fail. I was going to replace it with food grade reinforced clear hose, but thought if I could simply buy a replacement original hose this would be much simpler, and I am all for a simple life nowadays. Anybody know where I can source the hose, or what brand is used, so I can contact the manufacturer?
Cheers,
            Trevor ;D

We had a quote from Track, recently, for the fitting of a shower pod, to our Topaz 2, for $8500. Obviously they don't want the job, and won't get it from me. $8500 will buy a LOT of fuel and or a LOT of BEER.  :D
Cheers,
