Hi

We are interested in seeing what others have done for lighting whilst  setting up camp for a short multi night stay. ie you want the tent up, but not the full awning - we can play around with something like that in daylight.

We used to have a strong spotlight on the roof-rack of our old Prado that could be swung around and provide  lighting to the general area that you are working in. That option has gone and we are now looking to put something in place for the new car, rather than relying on head torches.

Interested in hacks for a mount on the tvan, or car roof-rack, or any other solution that works.

Thanks

Tvan Tvan / 2.5m x 2.5m pull out awnings
February 18, 2016, 12:47:43 AM
Hi

There are a number of pull out awnings on the market, varying in quality/price. Our aim is to get one that will transfer from the Prado 150 to the Tvan using Connie/Baron's bolting system (when available again).

Any thoughts on awning brand and rationale behind the recommendation?

At some stage, we plan to do a long trip but this is not on the radar yet. In the meantime quite like the idea of convenience / using it for tow vehicle and Tvan.

Thanks

Tvan Tvan / Retrofit new tvan kitchen to older models?
February 15, 2016, 07:53:10 PM
I quite like the new Tvan kitchen: http://bcove.me/2hro3hi4
particularly the pop up wind shield, the new look stove, location of the drawer/sink which is shown towards the end of the video. This video came as part of the Track email  today.

Has anyone asked Track, if this kitchen can be retrofitted?

Probably need some dimension changes - seems to me there would be a lot of people interested in this new look kitchen.
They must have thought about this, and have some diagrams draw up/costed.

I will email them, if no-one has asked.

October 24, 2014, 09:44:44 PM
All

I remember someone was interested in our fuel economy for a trip who has the same car & Tvan (Chris?)

Here are our figures:
Diesel automatic 2014 GXL: 9.4 l per 100 kms around Sydney average.
Towing Tvan Syd -Gundagai (Jugiong) return (freeway conditions ) averaged 11.5 litres per 100 kms. (2 adults &  5 day trip)
Stock standard kit for car  for both sets of figures. Hayman Reese towing system.

General Discussion / Thermomix - 240V - 12V kitchen
September 27, 2014, 01:46:34 PM
I'm putting up this post with trepidation, so be kind....

We have a Thermomix (TM31), which I would love to take camping (the ladies with one, or wanting one will understand where I am coming from). Given the price of these, I am reluctant to try this, without the advice of people who have done this on a regular basis. The Thermomix forums have the occasional person who takes it camping, (240v in a caravan park type people), so I haven't been able to get the right advice. We don't do generators, so will be relying on the 12 V solar/battery from the Tvan.

Given that Tvanners, Topazzers etc are my type of people (bush camping, no facilities & 12 v), I was hoping there may be some ladies who have done this & how well does it work for you when 12 V camping, and then we can get technical with the guys, if it looks viable.

Any ladies who can talk to this?

:)

Tvan Tvan / Tvan Supercheap cover
August 16, 2014, 07:28:37 PM
Hi We bought our Tvan Mk II  cover today from Supercheap as per Chris' earlier posting on Tvans for sale. Posting it here also for broader exposure:

http://www.supercheapauto.com.au/online-store/products/Calibre-SUV-Cover-Waterproof-Large-Extra-Large.aspx?pid=288111#Cross

$119.98.  No zipper on our version, but nicely fits around the rear of our (new to us) Mk II There's two sets of clips that allow you to tie it off underneath. We used an octopus strap at the front of the draw bar. As suggested in other threads, we used an old blanket to protect the paint work. Our Tvan lives outside. The fabric is UV stabilised & the box spells out the 12 months  warranty, also comes with it's own bag. Worth a try, and cheaper than other choices.

General Discussion / 12V interior fans (Camframo)
December 11, 2013, 10:27:40 PM
Has anyone bought and installed the interior fans that come with the more recent Tvans?

The Camframo 12V is  currently on special (till March they told me):
https://www.whitworths.com.au/ecatalogue/current/pages/lg/001.asp

Whitworths advise it is a fairly straight forward exercise & would love to hear from those who have done this into a Tvan.

Thanks
