Tvan Tvan / Intermittent power to fridge mk3.
April 12, 2018, 07:43:57 PM
Hi guys. I had an issue on my last trip with the fridge box power cutting in and out, once home a thorough check of the system showed the problem to be located at the rear of the merit plug in the front box. I had to remove the bracket and socket to access the wiring and much to my surprise found the spade connection had actually snapped off leaving a neatly crimped wire end with no terminal. Worse though is the fact that track in there wisdom used a spade double adapter to join up everything.  Given there an amazingly unreliable little bit of kit and how difficult it is to access you would have thought they would do something a little more secure.  (I'm a largish person you should see me trying to work inside the front box)
Just something to keep in mind if you have power issues in the front box.

Tvan Tvan / Sad but true
September 15, 2017, 05:03:55 PM
I know the discussion re towing our campers has been covered Many times, but this week I had the unfortunate chance to watch a group of people trying to tow a Jaco outback and one of the Chinese import campers into the desert,  it took them over 4 hours to climb over 3 dunes at the Birdsville end. Tyres still in the 30psi range with no idea what they where doing or how bad things further in where. The damage they did to the track was staggering.  About an hour after they went through a pair of cars came through towing TVans. I even said to the group I was with (solar car challenge) that at least the TVans where better suited to the environment they where heading into. I watched in amazement as they too had multiple attempts at a dune I had driven several times at walking pace with no problem. They also had rediculisly high tyre pressures and would not respond to multiple calls on the radio on the designated channel (10) nor could we find them using any other channel. During our 7 day crossing we saw so many trailers poorly prepared and running with high tyre pressures it was staggering. The ranger we met at the end was of the opinion that it's only a matter of time until the desert parks pass will be changed to include an additional charge for taking trailers into the area. So please guys. Think before you tow into remote areas. If you don't have the experience then go to safer places to gain the experience required or simply DONT take the van into the area. Park it somewhere safe and tent it into this remote and spectacular area so we will all have the chance to go there in the future.  Rant over.

Tvan Tvan / Tent issue
July 26, 2017, 01:55:22 PM
Ok guys I need the wisdom of those more experienced than I
Our tent has always had a gap near the floor at the van end. From the door to the hatch the floor lifts approximately 50mm and this makes the door very tight to open / close. Now the shelf end I can adjust by setting the top frame or adjusting the poles. Is there a way to eliminate the gap at the other end. When the van was new I queried TT service department and they said there all like that and it should stretch a bit.  Well almost 3 years on no notable stretch and the door is still hard to open close.
Ideas ?

Tvan Tvan / Anderson plug
April 15, 2017, 09:35:07 PM
I'm sure this has been covered by others but I'm going to dive in again. I had an intermittent problem with the van not charging when connected to the car while driving. After a long protracted investigation I found that track had fitted the wireing to the Anderson plug by crimping and attempting to solder. I say attempting as the poor solder (cockey poo) and incomplete crimp had failed on the negative and the wire was simply slipping in and out of the terminal (thus the intermittent charging) so guys take a small screwdriver and pop the terminals out of you're Anderson plug and give them a good inspection. I have inspected another friends van and one in a car yard and both had dodgy connections. Clearly it's a common fault.

Tvan Tvan / Piranha AOC chip
March 17, 2017, 06:43:54 PM
Has anyone played with the Piranha alternator output compensator?  From there write up they eliminate the need for a DC - DC charger and allow you to use the full capacity of you're alternator when charging. Much faster and way cheaper than the DC - DC charger options

Tvan Tvan / TVan deck support
January 05, 2017, 11:24:17 PM
Hi all. Thought I'd share this little add on to our TVan. Like many I worry about the amount of flex in the centre of the deck. This leg is adjustable from 70 to 170mm and costs around $15 from Bunnings. It required a small modification in the way of cutting the angle bracket off the top (I did mine with a hand saw). It takes seconds to place and adjust to support the deck. Tried it out in the Victoria high country over the New Year and it's a winner.

Tvan Tvan / Kitchen slide mod
March 27, 2016, 06:25:48 PM
What's the general consensus on adjusting the kitchen slides to give the kitchen a nose up attitude when extended. We always seam to have ours pointing down even when we get the van good and level.

Tvan Tvan / Stove issue
March 07, 2016, 08:34:36 PM
Hi all. I am hoping the collective knoledge base can give me a hint re the stove on our mk3 tvan. Recently it has started to make a loud clunk when in use. The flame often stutters when this happens and it makes the same noise when cooling. I originally suspected expansion and contraction of the top and as such didn't worry about it, but now with the flame flaring when it happens I suspect it's part of the auto cut off system.  What should I be looking for and should I be worried ?  Thanks in advance.

April 29, 2015, 08:48:17 PM
Hi guys. Hope the knowledge base out there can help. The hand pump on our TVan leaks water when the kitchen pump is used.  We had the system inspected by track and they claim to have fixed it but on the weekend it was happily leaking again. any idea where I should look ?
Thanks

Hi all. New to the forum and looking into the mighty TVan.
