Towing / Tow vehicle recommendation
July 28, 2019, 06:53:09 PM
I know this is a potential can of worms, but am interested in TVan/Topaz/Trackmate owners experiences of various tow vehicles.

I'm looking at possibly changing to another 4WD vehicle and maybe down the track moving to a Topaz.

So owners perspectives/experiences would be appreciated in terms of topics such as:
- suitability as a tow vehicle,
- economy (not a huge issue),
- reliability,
- off road ability when towing,
- breakdown support in remote locations etc.

Thanks

For Sale or Wanted / Wanted: TVan Family Room
December 22, 2018, 07:29:41 PM
Hi
I'm looking for a TVan family room to suit my 2007 Mk2.  I understand any family room from a post 2006 TVan will fit, so late-ish Mk2 onward.

I'm located in Brisbane.

My no is 0403825430.

Thanks, Peter.

Tvan Tvan / swapping from AT35 to DO35
July 19, 2018, 09:32:29 PM
Hi everyone

I have a MK2 with an AT35 (Quite unimpressed with this design) and have done a search on the forum.  I was surprised to not find any info on swapping to a DO35 hitch.  The DO35 is clearly preferred.  Im not too impressed about the AT35 to be honest.

So after looking at a few websites i see there are numerous options about which package to buy, which seem to mainly relate to how much of the handbake is bought.

so some advice from someone who has done a swap would be appreciated about what i need to buy, so I can assess what it will cost and determine if its worth the effort/expense in my situation.

thanks

Tvan Tvan / TVan Mk1&2, tech info, mods and upgrades
June 20, 2018, 10:35:43 PM
I just bought an 11 yr old TVan. Very happy. I know quite a few have the older Mk 1 or Mk2 TVan. So I selfishly thought it might be worthwhile dedicating a thread to modifications, upgrades and info to assist keeping the older loved TVans in top working order and maybe upgraded to be even better than when 1st acquired.

To the novice like me it could be a real time saver to benefit from the experience of veteran owners with even little tips, tricks and suggestions, which is why these forums (or fora) exist. So here goes.

I am doing a couple of things myself so I will put a couple of items up later.

Tvan Tvan / TVan battery monitor analogue or digital
June 19, 2018, 07:50:06 PM
I recently bought a Mk2 TVan. Very happy. It has a analogue battery meter. More recent TVans have a digital BMV700 battery monitor.

Is it worth upgrading to the later battery monitor?

Tvan Tvan / New TVan owner - finally
June 16, 2018, 08:11:32 PM
After a year of researching, looking and wanting a TVan. I scored this beauty of a Mk2. Thanks Rod from the forum. I feel very fortunate to own one. Hopefully my ownership will do this camper justice. For a start off to Straddy this coming weekend to try it out. It will be a test for the family and my resolve that this is the easiest camping solution.

I have aspirations of week long stays at Straddy, Bribie and DIP.

Still a bit of painting and rust converter work to do. Just time.

I have posted something similar on the FB group.

Tvan Tvan / Tvan short A-frame length
June 09, 2018, 08:23:29 PM
Gday,

I have a track tactical RAAF trailer that has always been tricky to reverse.

I'm trying to compare the length, from hub to draw bar, of the tactical (2400mm) vs tvan Mk 1/2 short vs long. I know from Craig's post the overall length changed by 400mm. But don't know how that compares with what I have.

Any advice would appreciated.

Tvan Tvan / A step closer ... to ownership
March 18, 2018, 02:27:21 PM
We have finally sold our hardfloor camper so are a step closer to ownership. I also need to sell a spare Land Rover.

But I need to convince the household about the virtues of Tvan ownership.

Does anyone know of anyone who hires a Tvan in the Brisbane area?  There is an advert on Gumtree for Caboolture. But the camper is in NT.

Thanks.

I made a full length plywood draw setup for a track trailer a few years ago. It slides on breadboard strips.

It has a steel platform on top for a roof top tent.

One draw holds a 40l Engle fridge, a jerry can with a tap and has a primus type two burner stove.

I sold the tent and never got around to replacing it so am giving away the set up.

It's made for a track RAAF trailer.

Located Brisbane.

PM me if interested.
