Destinations / Alice Springs
May 01, 2014, 10:17:47 PM
We have three weeks from the first of July to go from Perth or Kojonup to Kalgoorlie, Alice Springs, Uluru, Coober Pedy and the nullabor.
Any suggestions which  direction we should go first?
I have booked into Alice Springs for the Camel Cup on July 12th.
Any particular sights we should definitely look at.
This is the first time we have been out here so any advise would be appreciated, especially camping spots.
We will be travelling by ourselves.
Cheers

We would like to change the halogen globes in the four standard swivel lights to LEDS.  We have tried numerous shops now and have been unsuccesful in buying any 12 volt leds that will fit.  Any suggestions?  Our TVan is 2005 model

Tvan Tvan / tvan annexe
January 02, 2013, 09:00:49 PM
Arrived in Esperance WA for a few days break.  We went to put up the new annexe instead of the sail as rain is forecast for tomorrow.  What a disappointment that was.  Brand New, never been used and the rubber eyelets that are stitched into the canvas just totally ripped away from the canvas!!!  Just great.  Pulled that down and put the sail up.  Tried to get the annexe repaired today but canvas repairs are still closed for the new year break.  Has anyone else had a similar problem?

General Discussion / January Getaway WA

We have a couple of weeks free after Christmas Eve.  Is anyone aware of Tvan owners in WA going away for a couple of weeks around that time?
We have no destination in mind at this stage but just thought there might be other people with the same idea.

Trip Reports / Home from Tom -rice
July 09, 2012, 12:45:04 AM
Had a great trip to Tom Price.  Travelling by myself with a few talking books from the library and lots of western music was fine.
After 2,200 klms I was pleased to finely arrive. I found Barradale to be a nice place to camp up on the coastal highway.
It was great to meet my husband  and enjoyed his seven days off with him.
We really enjoyed Karajini, Millstream and the Hammerlsley Gorges.
People camped at the Dale Gorge and travelled out to Weano Gorge in just there four wheel drives.  The road would have been the worst road I have ever travelled on with the corragations  and generally shocking road conditions.
We towed the tvan behind us and it travelled just great.  I think if a caravan went through that road it would have rattled to pieces.
Just a word of warning I suppose you could call it............Tom Price only has one service station and twice when I went to get diesel they did not have any.  Parabadoo had also run out.  It is quite a problem really.  The same day Fitzroy  Crossing, Halls Creek and Paynes Find had no diesel either. I thought having two tanks  and a couple of jerry canswould be enough for that trip but next time I will carry more jerry cans because it is very inconvenient.
I also decided to stay in a Caravan Park for one night on the way up.  I stayed at Plantation Caravan Park  in Carnarvon.  I thought $30.00 for an unpowered site for one person for one night  was a bit steep.
I came home on the Great Northern Highway. Between Newman and Meekathara I could not beleive the amount of dead cattle on the side of the the road.  It is mustering season at the moment so maybe the cattle are on the move a bit more but it is worth being aware of if you are still travelling at dark.
Maybe this this information might help a few lucky travellers that are on the road.
Cheers

Tomorrow is the start of my trip to Tom Price. I think everything is packed and if its not well I guess I didn't need it.
Just a bit disappointed at the moment.  I jumped a creek today whilst checking the stock before I leave and did an ankle!!!
Now on crutches.  I hope I can put them in a bin along the way if things improve.  Just puts a bit of pressure on for setting up by yourself. Damn it.

General Discussion / Filling water tanks
June 17, 2012, 06:02:46 PM
I have just filled both the water tanks and it took an hour to fill both the tanks.
Is this normal.  I had to have the hose running very slow or the water would just come straight out again.

Introduction / New Member Kojonup WA
June 12, 2012, 11:22:57 PM
My husband Ross and I have just purchased an older model Tvan..2005 model Canning.  I have been researching these campers for about four years and just love the concept of them.
We have gone from a large caravan years ago to a soft top camper which we had terrific holidays in before the kids went to boarding school.
Our son has taken on the old camper for his family and at long last I have the Tvan.  It has the two water tanks on it, solar panel, CD/radiio and few other extras.  I am rapt with it.
Only been away for two nights in it just to make sure everything functioned all right with it.
Ross is currently working in Tom Price FIFO as the son is running the farm.
So, I am driving the 1800klms starting on Monday to go and see him.
Should be a good trip. When I get there Ross and I will do Karajini National Park, Millstream and hopefully Onslow on his week off. Then I will turn around and drive home again. I enjoy the forum and everyone is so helpful.

Destinations / camping without a generator
May 29, 2012, 12:44:32 AM
I'm interested to know if I would need a generator to camp for about a week.  Have got one battery on the Tvan and a solar panel. Going to Tom Price from Kojonup.  I suppose I will stay put out the National Park for about a week.  It is the first time I have used the Tvan although it is 2005 model I have just purchased it. Female travelling alone looking for advice from the experienced!!!
