Topaz Topaz / BBQ Gas Connection
September 20, 2017, 10:26:01 PM
Just wondering if any of you have modified the way you connect the BBQ to the gas bottle. It's just a little cumbersome having to remove the gas bottle and connect it to the BBQ each time I want to use it. I wonder about getting a gas bayonet permanently plumbed in near the BBQ with a pipe running to the gas bottle at the back. It would make using the BBQ simpler.

I'd be interested to hear if anyone has done this or come up with another solution.

Cheers

Topaz Topaz / Condensation on front window
November 09, 2013, 07:21:24 PM
After picking up our new Topaz a few months ago we did a shake down trip to Bourke and down the Darling River. All went very well and had a great time. Had a niggling problem with the very cold nights and even though we had roof ventilation open, the front window over the bed built up condensation through the night and started to drip on my head ::).

I found a simple solution that has worked well so far. It might be useful for others.

I wanted to insulate the window and keep moist air away from the cold glass so I obtained a couple of cheap car windscreen shades: silver bubble wrap type, that fold up neatly when not in use. One isn't long enough to span the whole window, so I used double sided tape to join two together, then cut them to size to fit the window. Actually I cut them a little oversize so I could fold over the edges onto more double sided tape, to give the edges some strength. I then used hook & loop (like velcro) tape around the edges to attach the shade neatly into the recessed area of the window. Standard velcro comes 25mm wide, which is too wide for the window frame. I couldn't find narrower sizes in the shops, but found white 15mm hook & loop tape on ebay. Perfect for the job. It all folds up neatly when it's not in use. Much happier now :).

Topaz Topaz / Carastow Wheels
November 21, 2012, 08:55:02 PM
I've just taken the plunge and ordered a new Topaz. So I can take the Topaz under my carport, I'm hoping to use the six stud Landcruiser series 80 Carastow wheels which I believe are the same as my Prado stud pattern. They're 400mm diameter which will give me the height reduction I need.

Does anyone have any experience with the Carastow wheels? Do they fit the Topaz OK?
