Hey Bruce a few things to ponder.

When doing a job that you don't do all the time or are unfamiliar with, do one side at a time so you can use the opposite side as a point of reference.

I'm sure you have this sorted by now but with the wheel off and the drum insitu, have a look where the vent  cutout on the backing plate is, you should be able to see the edge of the brake linings in relation to the edge of the drum.

This will tell you if drum fitted correctly.

There normally is quite a gap from the edge of the drum to the backing plate.

If in doubt take a few pics and send to my mobile and I can advise from there.

Topaz Topaz / Re: ESC retro fit on MK11 Topaz

I think you'll find you have to be a licensed ESC fitter to do the job.

The van will have to be measured, a unit made, then installed to the Topaz.

Also another Anderson plug to be fitted to the vehicle as well

Terrain Tamer TGS2576B

A lot less expensive than the Koni's and will work well.

Koni's are still the go to shock but had a few good trips with the Terrain Tammer as well

Electrical and Wiring / Re: Side Marker Lights MKIII

Gday Ken,

I think it's been mentioned at least 3 times in the above comments that the rest of the tail lights work fine, it's just the side markers are intermittent.

Yes aware of the flex sections causing problems, also mentioned in the above comments.

We used to have a fair few issues at that flex point when I was working at the Track Trailer dealer in Adelaide a few years ago.

Don't see why they would patch in at the flex section point and then feed it back into the Tvan, would not make any sense at all.

The issue will be where both side marker lights feed off of the main tail light feed, that ii suspect will be somewhere behind the main power box of the MK III which at this stage I'm nit going to worry to pull all that apart.

All good Andrew thanks for that.

Problem still exists but im over it, I'll come across the faulty connection from the tail lights to where it branches off to both side marker lights somewhere when I'm doing another repair I'm sure.

The issue is intermittent and only affects both side marker lights.

I can use my test box and can have the side markers work then not work when everything else is fine.

We will get to the bottom of it one day I'm sure.

Thanks for your time and input

Electrical and Wiring / Re: Side Marker Lights MKIII

Hi Phil, no nothing additional has been added to the taillight circuit.

As you say LED can be voltage sensitive, however ALL the lights are LED, so with the low voltage theory I would expect to see all the tail lights either inoperative or all dim.

It's a strange one for sure.

Cheers for that Kyle, sadly does not advise where the side marker lights patch into the feed for the taillights.

Had another look this morning with my test box that powers up all lights etc and of course the side markers are now working again.

Not a huge deal, I'll guess I'll come across the issue when doing other work on the Tvan down the road.

Yes it's a strange one Kyle, just got back from a short trip away, all tail lights work except both side marker lights.

Then they started to work again on their own, the obvious flex sections of cable feeding the rear lights on the rear deck checked, does not affect light operation either way.

Connection point that feeds both side markers will be the issue for sure, but where is that located ? Possibly in drivers side battery box or behind main power box that sits above it.

Don't really want to pull apart too much gear, not that I'm not capable just totally over doing things the hard way, I do it for a living.

Electrical and Wiring / Side Marker Lights MKIII

Mk III Murranji, the side maker lights have stopped working on both sides.

All other electrical is fine, all other taillights are working.

Anyone know where the feed for the side marker lights to tail light main wiring is located ?

So looking to match the tow vehicle wheels to the Tvan ?

Apart for the correct study pattern on the drums, check for rim offset that will fit the Tvan, may not be possible that tow vehicle offsets will suit to Tvan.

Hit the trails on the longer or more remote trios with more than 75% of rubber in your quality brand tires, manage pressures and speed according to conditions and you should not have any issues

Tvan Tvan / Re: Different Jockey Wheel

Just keep it simple and inexpensive.

Fit an Alko swivel clamp that bolts onto the right side of the chassis, then fit Manutec height adjustable "jockey wheel" that has a flat foot to it.

Has multiple height adjustments on it so that if the ground is say 150mm from the bottom of the chassis, you can adjust the Manutec unit in height and get the Tvan off the hitch.
Going the other way works well also, I can get the DO35 around about 800mm off the ground if needed.

You still utilise the original jockey wheel and with both you can "level" the Tvan side to side as well.

I'd post pics of it but don't want to spend my day converting crap. If interested text me on 0407 606 929 amd I'll send you pics.

Total cost at the time was around $120 and maybe 15 mins to fit

D2dave, pm me for details on another option that works well.

Too much Dickinson around in this site to send pics through.

Alternatively send your mobile number to 0407 606 929, I'll fill you in on the height adjustable leg we use.

Tvan Tvan / Re: Zenith inspection

If the Tvan is a private sale then it would pay to get a service and inspection done, then you have a "base line" to start from.

If it's from a dealer, most will do a brake and bearing service as part of setting it up for sale again.

So more details from you may determine which way it would go.
