I'm planning a similar project for my Eagle:  a 1997 MC2 in great condition. My plans are a little different though as I don't see the lockers as structural enough for adding the weight of a RTT and supporting structure, partiulcularly for the long term, corrugations etc.  (No criticism of this build, just going a slightly different direction - just in case).  I'm basing my frame structure on the old 'boat rack' style and plan to attach the RTT to this with about 300mm gap between the top of the lockers and the bottom of the RTT.  The 'lid' will be similar to. a gullwing arrangement that opens to each side to allow access to that storage area.  Just in the planning stage, but was really interested in this project as it has lots of features that I like. (Although I do like the old greyish colour that Track used at the factory ;-).  Thanks for sharing and I hope to post up my build when I get some time to work on it.

Thanks Rob.....

I think someone in another post replaced them with an alternative option, but despite their 'quirkiness' I actually like the dzus items as they don't really reveal a locker system to the opportunistic thief.

You might be interested, that I have some 'plans' for my Eagle.... remove the tent section and put a rooftop tent on with 270 awning for solo travel... I just find the tent section a little awkward when on my own...

Cheers,

Mark

I can confirm that the ISI option is a good one.  I completed 26000km from Melbourne - Darwin - Kimberley - Kakadu - Birdsville etc with much of this along gravel, corrugations, goat tracks etc... and no issues.  The key is that the bikes support their weight on their tyres, which provides a little 'give', thus preventing chassis cracks and other damage.  You can purchase directly from George at ISI, as he is a wealth of knowledge about outback travel with bikes.  Mounting arrangements can be modified to suit your personal needs....... I have attached a few photos of my setup for you....

I hope this is helpful.

Cheers,

Mark

Shepp,

Long delay, I know and only just trawling through some old posts... how did you go finding what you're after...?

Might have a little more luck posting in the "Other track products" forum... lots of us Eagle owners there.

Just to update this topic......

Bought myself a Tvan in 2015 and sold the Eagle.

Sold the Tvan in 2019 after some mammoth trips (house renovations, $$ and storage space reasons...)

Have just re-purchased my old Eagle back from the person who bought it from me as he has changed to Tvan....

Keeping it in the 'family'....

Looking forward to a nice camping trip over Christmas in my beloved Eagle.   ;-)

Cheers,

Mark

For Sale or Wanted / 2005 Tvan Mk II Custom
March 30, 2018, 11:56:06 AM
2005 Mk11 Track Tvan.

For reluctant sale is my 2005 Tvan, purchased from another forum member in 2016.  It was purchased for a 3 month trip to Northern Australia, after many items were either replaced or rebuilt to almost new condition.  The van performed FAULTLESSLY during the trip, a testament to both the previous owner and the quality of the Tracktrailer product.  I am now in a position to sell this Tvan due to pending home renovations and low use.

The Tvan is in EXCELLENT condition and would especially suit a fussy buyer.  It has suspension and hubs to suit 100 or 200 Series Toyota Landcruiser IFS.

There is a little bit of stone chipping to the silver powder coat on the front of the van above the height of the stone deflectors and a some stone chipping to the leading edge of the wheel arches (easily repaired/painted etc). There is no severe scratching or pin-striping.

This Tvan was a special build from Tracktrailer, hence the cream body colour and the aluminium walls as in the later models.  It was built with DISC BRAKES, to which has been fitted an electro-hydraulic brake actuator which works extremely well with all electric brake controllers.  No adjustments (like drum brakes) required.   Additionally, the Tan has extra stone protection underneath to protect brakes, shock absorbers and suspension components.

The underbody was re-proofed with a similar product used by the manufacturer to waterproof the timber floor in 2017.

Any test welcomed and inspection will not disappoint.  I am located in South Eastern Suburbs of Melbourne.

PM me if you're interested and I will send you my phone No.

I see the all 4 adventure guys cross the Simpson with dual axle caravan next week!

They tried big red with a caravan this week!

....and this is why trailers will eventually be banned from the Simpson.... idiots..!    >:( >:(

I fail to see the point.

Tvan Tvan / Re: To buy or Not to Buy
June 27, 2017, 11:00:25 AM
So much great advice and not much to add, other than mentioning that we have an earlier model (2005) Tvan and have kids, now 8 and 10yo.  They live in bunks which store on the bed and take about 5 minutes to put up, once the canvas is erected.

We did make the mistake early on of taking too much junk with us, having had the luxury of an earlier model Track Eagle,  and consequently, lots of stuff ends up on the bed.  I find this a PITA.  Since then I have rationalised all my gear and only take relatively lightweight stuff including table and chairs etc.

Just note that it will take a few trips of differing types to really sort out your preferences, but if you do as I did, and look upon the Tvan as about the best compromise there is and work around that and you will learn to love it.  Last year we spent 3 months travelling and there were not many times when I would have preferred a caravan....

We also have lots of setup options:
1.  Open door, attach insect screen and dive in (when just 2 of us).
2.  Put up minimum canvas and bung kids on floor on self inflators
3.  As above but put up the bunks.
4.  Shade sail up
5.  Awning roof up (walls take about another 15-20 mins).  Good for extended stays in windy places to provide shelter.
6.  Hiking tents for the boys.
7.  Large touring tent as additional storage/eating area etc.... though likely use awning instead.
8.  Shower annex up...

There's just so many configurations and this should be enough to satisfy just about anyone.........

Cheers,

Mark
