Anderson Lead appears dead

Just gone over the trailer as the wet season comes to prepare for upcoming dry season trips.  I have the trailer plugged into 240V to trickle charge the batteries.  I have a portable ARB compressor with an anderson connection which I usually plug into the trailer Anderson lead on the draw bar & today when I've gone to top the air up in the trailer tyres there is no life from the drawbar Anderson plug.  The compressor is working (I've connected to other power sources with no probs).  The battery conditions (dual battery set-up) appears good as per the battery monitor & all the other electrics are working.  The lack of power at the drawbar is when plugged into 240V & when just on the internal batteries.  I am concerned about this lack of juice at the drawbar & especially the likelihood that something is stuffed that will prevent the trailer being charged when under-tow or from my portable solar.  Am I missing something simple & stupid or is this looking like a trip to the Autoelectrician to sort?  For any incoming explanations or help I am a complete auto-electical novice so keep it simple please!

Thanks in advance.

Do you have a fuse at the front of your trailer?
Is it still good?  I say that.
Because I believe the lead to the car was fused.
Just in case there was a short in the heavy cables if they were pulled out.
The extra fuse was added into the MkIII 2011 onwards.
The batteries have their own fuse.  I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

May be worth checking the anderson plugs to make sure the cables are still intact - I had an issue with one of the cables in the plug moving and not making contact :)

Where is the fuse at the front of the trailer found?  All I can see is the cable disappearing into the trailer frame.  I wondered too about a fuse but the only one I can readily see is the 240V safety switch & fuse inside the cabin.

If it is a MkIII there is a 30 amp Maxi blade fuse in the main (r/h) battery box where the Anderson plug leads go into first before  connecting to the battery.

Thanks ROOVIEW.

That was the next spot.
In the Floor of the MkIII., you'll have to lift up the carpet.
Open the box closest to the rear of the trailer on the right side, Drivers Side (Battery Box.) in the floor.
And as per Rooview's info. Check the fuses and replace as required.  Leave open until you have it all working.
Plug the trailer into the car and test for power.  If no joy still.
Check the cables between the front and the battery box.
You should have 12 volt from the battery/s at the front of the trailer in the Anderson plug.
If you do all's good.  If there's still a problem check for bad solder joints at the plug, pins not correctly seated in the plug, coatings on the contact surface of the pins in the plug (if yes, clean them to bare metal for good contact.).  The contacts should be clean and silver looking.  And red to + with black (earth) to - on the connector, as per the markings on the outside of the connector.
Good luck.

In my 2002 Tvan, the anderson plug is connected directly to the battery.  No fuse.  The 30A fuse is to protect all the other circuits coming out of the battery ie lights, merit plugs etc.  If you have no power at your anderson plug on the Tvan, it would most likely be a faulty anderson plug.  The connection has slipped back into the plug so there is no contact.  After checking that, I would then check the integrity of the wires to the anderson plug and battery.  It has to be a simple problem, just hard to find.

MkI and MkII Tvans do not have a fuse to protect the anderson plug wiring whereas MkIII Tvans and Topaz do. The fuse in the RH battery box will be the most likely cause.

Thanks everyone this is an awesome forum.  Problem was exactly as predicted - blown 30A fuse in the RH battery box.  So that's why Track provided a spare 30A in the spares box!  Thanks everyone for the hints & saving me a trip to the Autoelectrician - 5 min job at home  ;D
