Be wary of a foam backed carpet from Clark Rubber.
It works well, and is reasonably light but the backing comes off and sticks to the vinyl floor.

HI Paul..

Unlike other products out there on the market, it doesn't have foam backing..it's foam impregnated rubber..I guess you could call it a thin, light weight rubber anti fatigue mat. You buy it by the metre. 3mm thick. It's really hard to describe.

This is it:

It has VERY fine smooth, texture, so it sweeps, wipes or shakes clean easily. Doesn't absorb water or dirt

Something that you may laugh at is; we also have a small,Makita cordless vaccum cleaner...works an absolute treat to quickly pick up the odd bit of dirt too...stops the spread of dust when you use a broom.
Having a long handle it saves the back (which is important to a lot of us)...no need to carry a broom either...just a banister brush to remove dirt from chairs etc

Don't laugh until you try it..it's quite powerful actually. When you see what it can pick up, you will be quite grossed out by what lies hidden in carpet and under things. :o
especially hair and bedding fluff

Cheers

Hello Robyn,

Mine appears to be a rubbery foam so probably the same. The backing is coming off at random in chunks up to 300 mm long.
If it just came off wouldn't be too bad, but is actually sticks to the vinyl and the only way to remove it is to rub it vigorously and it peels off.
Perhaps I got a faulty batch.

I do have a 12volt vacuum cleaner in the vehicle so might pull it out and see what nasty's lurk underfoot. Hmmm, maybe not.

Like PeterCo, we use standard annexe matting cut to size inside, and the off-cut outside - lets the dirt through which is easy to sweep up when packing up. We also use a grit collecting mat (Aldi special) inside the door and an open back mat with stiff bristles (eg Oates) outside.

Hi Paul....ours doesn't have either a top or bottom..just a length of soft rubber "sheet" 1400mm wide, which we had cut to an approx. 1800mm length piece. Maybe ours is different??? or a better batch LOL...you will be disgusted by what gets sucked up by your vacuum cleaner..ewwww..lol
