Drawbar upgrade

Hi

We have had our beloved TVAN now for 12 months.  We purchased a new Canning MK4 from Track Trailer in Melbourne.  Over the year we have used it mainly for caravan parks and short trips (couple of dirt tracks but no real off roading), next year is our big get away to the Kimberleys.

Over the time we have begun to regret not getting the drawbar with the full front storage box.  We had ours made with option 3 (Pivoting tray and 2 fitted bike racks).  We are now considering upgrading to the full front drawbar.

My question is - Would anyone be interested in purchasing our excellent conditioned existing drawbar or know of anywhere that this can be on sold too.  Otherwise we are left with a drawbar after the replacement!!

Any thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Eelezy

Hmm i thought that the boxes were just a bolt on option?...if you have the existing long draw bar I assume you could have the best of both worlds or sell your existing set up maybe.

That would be great if they could just screw on but no it's a whole new drawbar to get the boxes on the MK4.  Selling the old one would at least recoup some of the change over costings.

Hopefully someone out there knows of someone who requires just a drawbar!

Thanks

Interesting! Must be a Mark 4 thing. We also have the tilting tray and it was our preferred option when looking for our new Tvan. We love the fact that you can use the tray for a variety of reasons, such as ( in your case) the bikes, inflatable canoe, or even a large dust proof spacecase for items like the camp oven, spares etc. Our fridge is in the vehicle in any case, and having the porta-poti holder as well as jerry can racks is still a great part of the "tray" design...so maybe with some rethinking of your storage you don't need the expense of changing over to the boxes?

When you say "new drawbar" do you mean the galvanised steel chassis bit or the bits that go on top?

They replace the whole drawbar.  We currently have our 2nd fridge on the back shelf inside the trailer as well as a baby Weber.  When we do longer trips though we like the idea of just opening the back up for quick overnighters and having these on the back shelf limits this.

Did think of having a cabinet made that fits where the jerry cans sit but it will be quite angled and limits what can be slid in there due to shape.

Chris - the porta - poti holder,  I assume goes on top of the jerry can racks.  Would a baby weber sit on this?

Yes, easily...what happens is that you have a bolt on tray above the R/H side jerry holders. Really easy to get made yourself as it's just folded metal. Then you have plenty of room above that tray and below the actual large folding "tray". I went one step further and removed the jerry can angled trays as I will never use them anyway ( thought I did make them bolt-on replaceable just in case). This then also gave me some usable space below the porta-pot (or baby webber) tray to carry spare stuff too. I can email photos if you need them! You could have the metal tray fir into any of the space created on that side, ie higher/lower to suit your webber. You might need to put the webber in a canvas bag or small metal box if it sticks up much above the stone trays.
Hope that helps!

That would be fantastic if you could email some pics.  We are not very handy people so will definitely need to pay someone to do it all for us.   How you have described your changes make it sound quite viable and probably a lot more economical.  We have the canvas bag for the weber so that is a tick.

Please pm me your email and i will send the photos to you as I can't seem to upload them here from my tablet.
