My Caframo Sirocco fan died recently and I bought two more to replace it but didn't realise that the new ones are 24V. Can I run a 24V fan on a 12V system without a step up converter? The 24V fan draws .23 amps at its highest speed. What would be the obvious difference between the two fans, one being 12V and the other 24V?

They make both 12 & 24V versions - they have slightly different part numbers.

I'm not sure if the 24V fans would work off 12V - I suspect not because otherwise why would they have two models?

However... it looks like there might be a Sirocco II model which does both.

What is the part number of the fan you have?

PS Track Trailer now use the new Sirocco II fan (12/24V) - the buttons are in a different position on the "bottom" of the fan instead of on the "end". They claim it's quieter and has better timer options (now 3/6/9/12 vs 2/4/6 hrs). I'm not convinced about the new button position because the fan gets in the way a bit when it's hanging down but such is progress...

The part number is 807CA24-WBX. I was looking at getting a 12V to 24V set up DC/DC converter off EBAY for only $12.

That would be the cheapest way out of your situation...
