Tvan Tanami

OK.. to see if I can get some qualified input into my vocabulary, I pose the question...
I have a Tanami and would like some guidance on the correct pronunciation of the word "Tanami".
Is it:
1) As in Tah-nah-mee, or
2) As in Ta-na-mai

If it was named after the desert then I think it is more like "Tan-a-my".

Well the locals are getting it wrong as well.

They say it's:

TAN - ah - MY

Not :

TAN - NA - MEE

Now...how do you pronounce 'Murranji'?

I pronounce it Mah-ran-jye.

But I've heard it pronounced Mah-ran-jee or Moor-an-jye

Never judge anyone by the way they mispronounce a word. It means they have learnt it by reading. I remember the moment Brian Henderson used "epitome".... I went  "does he mean epi- tome?" hehehehe
