Can someone please advise if there is any factory applied silicone sealant on the roof of the Topaz?

I'm about to reseal mine and the product won't adhere to silicone!

I've had a look and there is a creamy coloured material in/on the aluminium seam strip, can't really tell just what it is.

hi fantum,

so, i have replaced the sealant on both the topaz vans i have owned. so, use a high-quality urethane, like sika flex or bostik. if you can buy the sausage style cartridge, not the standard caulking style. you will need  to buy at least 3 .
silicone won't work as well as urethane. the biggest setback is that the urethane is not u/v stable and will break down after about 4 years, quicker if it's in the sun most of the time.

to protect the sealant from over exposure i did one of two things. on my first 2012 van i laid a strip of 50mm wide and 3 mm thick aluminium over the sealant when it was still wet and put weights on top of it over night. then next day i went around the edges and sealed the strip down.

but on my current 2018 model i have decided to paint over the sealant with a uv stable paint. i used a marine grade 2 part under coat and tomorrow i will paint over it with the uv stable paint. but you could also use a uv stable rubberised paint, a bit like a bitumastic paint, but i couldn't find any in white, just black.

so i hope this helps , good luck and enjoy getting sealant all over yourself...
