Tvan Tvan / Re: Tvanners with induction stoves
October 14, 2024, 09:05:26 PM
Hi Chris,
I have recently converted my mark 3 to induction.
i ripped out the 2 fullriver batteries and put in 2 180ah DCS lithium.
I have had a custom stainless sunken support where the old gas cooker was.
I have a 3000w kings inverter in the drivers side storage box and a remote control at the electrical board.
had to run large copper from the batteries to cope with the current.
i have a 50amp redard dc to dc under the side of the bed.
it works super well. i have a westinghouse double induction cooktop. i use around 10-15 percent on an average cookup with rice and say a curry. have had both burners on full (2400w) and it does suck the juice but it works well. I have a double GPO under bed and above kitchen and a changeover switch on the switchboard - external power-off- inverter power.
can send pics if needed.
also i have installed a kings flexible 160w panel on the white hatch so when its up it pumps in up to 12amps of solar.
good luck!

Well I finally got the diesel heater in and I'm pretty happy with the results.
Should be great in the high country in winter!
I measured the current draw @12amps while the glow plug activate approx 2 min then the fan only draws around 1 amp.
It got the tvan hot in around 2 min tonight.

Well, I spoke to adp caravan repairs in bayswater the guy was very helpful and advised that the 2kw heater would indeed warm the whole tvan. He has ever installed one in a tvan but they have successfully installed in a full canvas camper and the results were impressive. He said it will be nice and warm in a tvan. I'm going there this week to source a vent for our tvan. I'll post pics when the install is complete. We go to the high country regularly and it's common to get temps below 0 overnight so this mod to the tvan should be a cracker!

I just purchased a portable wabasto diesel heater for our tvan mk3
Got it from Kimberly campers. Will post pics soon when it's complete.
Purchased a portable heater because the girls can use it for their tent and I can use it for work.

Tvan Tvan / Re: Damp and Mould under BED Mk 3
November 03, 2014, 06:55:22 PM
We had track investigate our damp mould ruined matress in our mk3 tanami.
We concluded that it's the difference in temperature on the front plywood under the bed.
See the rear plywood (slightly thinner) is in the cabin and can breathe. The front plywood actually sits on steel. I found mould and a damp area in the middle of the plywood not around the edges like yours.
Yours looks like it's a water leak around the outside!
Turns out at night it gets very cold under the front plywood as sometimes we left the kitchen open overnight, because the top side of the plywood was warm from our body's, moisture formed beneath.
We purchased an under matress breather/protector AND had track seal the plywood both sides. This should fix this problem.
Get the under matress protector !!!!
I'd have been really pi55ed of if it had of been a $2700 latex matress!

Track trailer in Bayswater had never seen this mould problem before, the van was water tested and a small leak was found in the rear roof hatch, this did not contribute to the mould under the mattress. I asked the staff to remove the front ply wood as there was no clear reason for the mould and the warranty was being disputed by Track Trailer Bayswater. As a result, there was mould on the timber and Steel above the kitchen area. The problem seems to be caused by condensation above the kitchen area. We were advised that an under bed liner protector would stop this problem, it cost $250.00 which we have now purchased. Reluctantly, Track trailer replaced  the ply wood and the mattress free of charge after many discussions. We recommend an under mattress protector is needed and we were advised to close the kitchen and storage doors to prevent this problem. We advise any campers to pull your mattresses out and check for mould and purchase an under bed protector.
