yes I have measured, looks like it will work not worried about the merit plug being outside, l will order in a locker and see how that goes, I am looking to wrap the sides of the van so the thetford lockers would be a nicer finish when wrapped :-)

I think the monitors are great, but the system works well as standard,i guess it does also amount to how power hungry you will be. And remember a State of charge can be directly related to the voltage of the battery at rest, the better monitors actually calculate the amps being consumed and then work out how long is left till flat, its handy but do we really need it? once you are a seasoned traveler you will know how long you can go before being in trouble. my problem is I like the technology but I want to keep it all simple and less is often better, for both weight and problems.

the other thing to remember if you have a Tvan with the battery on the drawer bar I think the power comes from the Anderson to the battery then runs down the back, this will make it harder for installing the shunt (required for a monitor) as it needs to be inline with all the load in and out, so will need to be mounted at the battery. I am about the change the loom on my MK1 as I have relocated the battery to the back, am sure someone on here has probably already done this so maybe they can verify this for us.

check out Ctek, Baintech (Vitron) and Redarc, there are others these are the ones I have used

if you are on a budget Jaycar do a simple digital volt meter with a bar display that will keep you on track, about $45 I think great for a quick glance, I run one of these on my patrol (couldn't find it on there website not sure if they still have it)

also for budget check out ABRsidewinder he has some good bits as well

just my 2 cents worth

Tvan Tvan / Re: Red arc Tow Pro ELITE
June 16, 2018, 08:59:02 AM
I have installed and used both systems for work, I am surprised you are not happy with he prodigy, in my opinion they are both very good units, the main benefit of the redarc unit is the remote mounting as most modern vehicles it makes the mounting easier, for what its worth I like the boost function on the prodigy units to give you more control options. but they both work great, I find I am always making fine adjustments to suit conditions anyway. you can manually apply the brakes on the Redarc by simply pushing the knob also make sure its the newer version of the Towpro, not sure if that helps

Introduction / New Tvan owner
March 17, 2018, 09:31:04 AM
Hi Guys,

Joined the group a few months ago, so I could look through all the info here, its great source of ideas and such, we have just purchased a MK1 complete with original paperwork (purchased from first owners) and love it, it works perfectly for us already travelled 6000k up the centre ( all blacktop unfortunately)
I will be making a few mods and additions in keeping with the originality of the van, have always liked the Tvan concept.
We travel a lot for work but look forward to catching up with other owners in the future
