I'm looking for a family room to suit a Mk4, if someone wants to sell theirs.

Tvan Tvan / T-Van Mk4 front boxes
October 12, 2018, 06:43:36 PM
I have a Mk4 without the front boxes.
I've been in contact with TT to now buy these boxes, but the shipping costs to Perth are prohibitive.. almost $3,000! (that doesn't include the cost of the boxes themselves.. over $5,000 before any installation costs).
So.. needless to say.. I'm looking to get something suitable fabricated myself.
I need to get most of the functionality of what the TT boxes offer.. ie: fridge slide, some packing space, space for the jerries and a way to accommodate the spare wheel.
Does anyone have any plans, diagrams or pictures of anything they've done in this regard that I can use as a starting point?

Electrical and Wiring / Removing Mk4 kitchen/awning light
September 21, 2018, 01:28:51 PM
How, without breaking the thing, do I remove the kitchen/awning light on the side of my Mk4?
I want to find a way to incorporate a waterproof switch so that I don't have to always climb into the Tvan to switch the light on and off as it's required... especially since the switch is on the opposite side of the Tvan..
But I first need to get to the wiring somehow.

Tvan Tvan / Tvan Tanami
April 24, 2018, 01:16:14 PM
OK.. to see if I can get some qualified input into my vocabulary, I pose the question...
I have a Tanami and would like some guidance on the correct pronunciation of the word "Tanami".
Is it:
1) As in Tah-nah-mee, or
2) As in Ta-na-mai
Thank you all :)

Tvan Tvan / How to videos
December 01, 2017, 11:50:53 AM
Hmmm.. just thinking...
Wouldn't it be nice if TT had a few professionally done "How To" videos on their website?
Like how to put up the big awning.. the logical way ;)
Apparently it's easier if you do it before everything else is up  :P :P
(unless, of course, you have a ladder..)
Oh.. and those silver"D" shaped "hooks".. I think I know what they're for now  :-[

General Discussion / Drawing water from creek
August 26, 2017, 07:22:11 PM
The latest specs on the TT website reveal that we can "Draw water from an external source; such as a jerry can or creek" .. standard across the models.
For fear of sounding like a tourist, is this a feature that is on my Mk4?... What are they referring to? Maybe a hidden pulley system that will drag the jerry cans up from the creek to my Tvan? [emoji848]

For Sale or Wanted / Mk4 Awning wanted
August 23, 2017, 12:21:57 AM
Does anyobe have a full awning for a Mk4 that they've purchased and found they don't use very much, if at all.. and now want to recover some of their financial outlay?

General Discussion / Freezer temperature
July 01, 2017, 11:54:44 AM
I have 2 fridges.. an ARB 47L in the truck and a Bushman in the Tvan.
The Bushman is used as a freezer.
I appreciate that it's a balancing act between dropping the freezer temperature and the amount of power that'll be used in the process.
And then there's the limit on how far below ambient the freezer is ever likely to get..
As a guide, what temperature do you good folks set your freezer to and still manage to keep most of the stuff frozen?

Destinations / Mt Sandiman Williambury Road
April 04, 2017, 07:04:06 PM
Can anyone familiar with some of the roads in WA's Pilbara area help..?

Does anyone know whether a permit is required for the road
- From : Mount Sandiman (East of Kennedy Range National Park)
- To : Williambury (intersecting with junction of Lyndon Road)
travelling in NNW direction.
Some maps seem to indicate "Private Access".. others not...

For Sale or Wanted / Wanted : Tvan Mk IV cover
January 18, 2017, 01:07:54 PM
I am planning on getting a canvas manufacturer to make a cover for my Tvan.
Is canvas acceptable?
Has anyone already done this, and therefore can put me onto their supplier before I "recreate the wheel"?

Tvan Tvan / Right v Left height on Mk4
November 04, 2016, 05:42:27 PM
I've noticed that the wheel arch over the right wheel sits about 20mm lower than over the left wheel on my Mk4.
So the Tvan leans a bit to the right.
Is that normal?.. Maybe to compensate for anything?.. maybe for when the kitchen is out..?

Cheers

Introduction / How's it
February 03, 2016, 06:18:44 PM
Hi,
Just a quick intro from myself (Graham) and my wife (Debbie).
We live in a suburb north of Perth.
We bought a Tvan back in November, and are looking forward to getting it later this month or maybe March.
I enjoy remote touring, especially when it requires a 4WD.
The Tvan has been bought to enable my wife to come along.. previously it's been me only.. in a swag.
So, lets's see how we go :)
