Large engel fridge in the front boot !

When buying our new TVan I was told ( sorry but the large engel fridge will not fit )
sorry WRONG lol  / fitted with more storage ...
60lt with draw or 80 with slide table on top of fridge !

Wife loves the fact that she can have her pots and pans ,gas line , and room for lots more in the draw above the fridge !

Also putting hot water in and A/c ..... Missed out on a new one with the lot ! by a few weeks ,ordered to soon .

Looks good, have you tried it out in hot weather. My only concern looking at it is potentually a lack of ventilation for the fridge when traveling/stored.

understand your concern Charlie !
i may put in a 12v extractor fan in the back of the box ! or open another vent but there should be enough room as hot air will rise and there are two vents in the box now !
going away tomorrow out of Adelaide should be a good test !

I've got a 50l Trailblazer fridge in mine - I had to lower the tray a bit and raise the pantry. Both are easy to do if you have a nutsert tool - there is at least 10mm space between the seal and the slide/pantry.

We're happy with ours. I'd recommend getting the digital thermostat - makes it harder to accidenly switch between fridge and freezer (our old one had 2 thermostats and a switch right next to the light switch which looked identical - not hard to hit the freezer switch instead of the light).

The can make them with thinner tops/bottoms so they fit. You can drop the tray a bit and raise the pantry as well to gain more space if needed (easy job with a drill & nutsert tool - you can put them back in the old positions easily if you want)

I also had this idea, but it isn't as good as it sounds: I placed two extractor fans on the door vent, to "inhale" air through the vent when the temperature inside got above 30 degrees. Two issues occurred:

1. When it is 30 degrees inside the front box, it is almost always at least 30 degrees outside as well, so there is zero "cooling" performed by extracting air out of the box and replacing it with air outside.

2. Only a very small amount of air is sucked in through the door filter, even with two fans running, because in addition to pulling air in, the fans have to also push the air out through the filter on the rear of the front box, since it there's nowhere else for the air to go.

I tried this for a while, but have subsequently removed the fans and thermostat... back to square one...

Doing something like this has been on my todo list for a long long time. I suspect it would need a fair bit of work to find the right fans and make them seal well enough against the air filters to have any effect. With our fridge there wasn't enough space to mount fans on the door vent - I was going to put them on the middle divider to blow it out to the other side and then add another air filter there. That might work but my guess is that it would need a lot more filter area to use small/low power fans.

Do the vents actually do anything? I can't imagine much passive airflow through them.

Also, I've always been curious about the insulation used in the front box. I get that it's meant to stop the heat getting in but, at the same time, wouldn't it also stop the heat getting out?

Margaret at Norcoast can build a 50L Trailblaser fridge not higher than the 440 mm available with the pantry drawer.  My Tvan is currently on the floor at HQ waiting for pickup and I've asked TT to measure and confirm the available width in my fridge drawer.  TT Specs say 456 mm is available in width and the 50L Trailblaser specs say it's 475 mm wide.  Did you have to modify your drawer to accommodate the width of you 50 L Trailblaser please?

Mine was a bit shorter than normal - invoice says "50 standard checker trailblaza, 50mm underneath HME". Standard would be 75mm. With that thickness it just fits if you adjust the pantry and tray. If you got 50mm top & bottom that would make it another 25mm shorter so it might fit without any mods.

Thanks again Peter.  TT dropped a tape on the drawer in mine for me which confirms your advice.  I've ordered the 50 mm underneath HME spec and the upgraded lid which is also thinner but different in construction apparently so I'm hope of fitting it without modification.
