Hi there,

We've just bought a new Firetail and will be travelling from Brisbane to pick it up from the factory in Victoria in a few weeks. Just working out a scenic route back home now, since we'll be near the Victorian Alps area - and it is school holiday time...

See you all round! I'm sure I'll be posting soon...

Cheers

Congrats on the Firetail. Ours is under 4 months old with over 9000klm on the clock already and loving it but I'd stay out of the alps at this time of the year unless you want to freeze.

Remember track closures will be in place across the Victorian and NSW alps. Only major roads / tracks will be open but. Still subject too closure after heavy snow falls. Chains will also be mandatory around the approaches to the ski resorts.

As previously mentioned, overnight temperatures will be consistently below zero and only rising to single digits during the day time. Wouldn't contemplate overnight stops without bedding design for -10C conditions / something like the built-in heater running for extended periods through the night.

That said, a clear, still winters day above the snow line can be stunning.

Thanks for the feedback!  I think I'm delaying getting the Firetail until mid August. (Which probably won't be any warmer). May end up going back up North via Beechworth, or somewhere scenic in northern Vic like that.

If you're around Beechworth and want to use a caravan park, which is a good option if it's cold, then the Yackandandah park is small and quiet with very nice facilities and spacious grass sites and a creek running around it. It's a lovely town too.

Further up the Murray, there's a fabulous spot a few klm out of Cohuna where you can free camp on Gunbower Creek. In fact, there are numerous spots on the river between Cohuna and Echuca, right down to Yarrawonga. We've just come back from up there but it got too cold at night. Minus 5 isn't our idea of a great night, although we were warm in the Tvan under the doona, it was just too bloody cold to get up ! Wiki camps has it all.

Happy day.  :D You're going to love it !  :D

Hope it stops raining for you, it's been heavy in patches today. Seemed to be clearing a bit late though.

Just a tip. When you check the ride height hooked up, keep in mind that they have two options for the jockey wheel height. I had to get the lower one for the Paj, the full height wheel hit the ground before it was all the way down and that was in the showroom !

Thanks for that tip - I'll check tomorrow.
(Now in Northern Suburbs of Melbourne - and isn't it freezing!)
Also going to make sure the kitchen isn't too "droopy" when extended...

Hey Rob.
Welcome and great going with the Mk5.

Rob was showing his minor disappointment that he had coincidentally picked up his Mk4 Firetail the same day the Mk5 was revealed to the world.

Such is life, enjoy anyway. [emoji106][emoji41]
