hi folks,
just fishin'.
Would anyone have an idea what the roads are like for the above mentioned trek.  Even an estimate for mid to late July coming?  I've heard some horror tales, and I'm wondering what I could be in for.

Robert,
Assume via the Plenty Highway? Thats usually well travelled, but I have no recent information, but was a pretty good track with some patches of sand and bulldust. We met a Japanese guy who had taken 4 days to get half way across from Alice to Tobermorey Stn, but he was pushing some sort of road bike which wasnt working too well in the sand for him. But we did the trip from Boulia to Alice comfortably in a day.
You can do Boulia to Birdsville easily in a day. Then Birdsville  - Innamincka (1 day) - Tibooburra - Broken Hill (1 day) if thats the way you were planning.
Innamincka to Tibooburra via the Bore Track is pretty good as an alternative. We found all the tracks range from really good to bad, but you can usually average 60-80k/mh but this changes week to week and place to place. Of course if it rains all bets are off.
Broken Hill to Mildura is all sealed road and boring as.
