I just mounted up my new instantaneous hot water system, I bought a Country Comfort hot water system.
I got it from the Supershow in Sydney, but you can get them online at either
http://countrycomfortlpggas.com.au/, or
http://www.blackdiamondsupplies.com.au/water-heaters.html

I had a galvanised sheetmetal bracket folded up to mount it in the RHS of my front box.
It only takes up 140mm of space in the end of the drawer.
I had to cut a hole in the bottom of the sliding drawer to get access to the inlets and outlets.
so i just need to give everything a coat of paint and it will look like a bought one.
I bought a spare quick fit gas hose and regulator from Track Trailer (same as the stove's one)
so you basically just slide it out connect the gas & water and hey presto..

It's got standard garden hose fittings, so you can connect directly to a tap, if you want to.
I'm going to install a pump so I can choose to pump from a river, or a bucket, or connect to a tap if available.
I'll also be adding a hot water tap at the kitchen (stay tuned for that)

Here's some pics.

Mate that looks really good. You've done well. I look forward to seeing how you go with getting hot water to the kitchen. Great work. Thanks for sharing.

Ok, following on from the install of the Hot Water System above
I've now plumbed it into the kitchen, and now have hot water on tap.
The idea was to basically push a button and get hot water out of the tap.
So I installed 2 push buttons (1 for hot & 1 for cold) so I can get either hot or cold.
I used weatherproof pushbuttons that lit up, you can see them in the photo below
I installed some micro solenoids behind the sink and a couple of water connectors
I used standard garden hose fittings with the stop valves so that when nothing is connected
no water comes out, there is about 50mm of spare room behind the sink drawer, so it all fitted perfectly.

I also mounted the pump that came with the shower, in the space below the 240V power inlet at the back of the Tvan
so I can choose to use the original pump for the kitchen hot water, or the auxiliary pump for the shower and pump from a bucket or creek
so it just depends on which pump is connect to the hot water system, as to what water source I use.

More details,

I got some gal brackets bent up to hold the solenoids and connectors,
I only wanted about 15mm of the connectors sticking out, just enough to push them in to un click them.

I believe the guys from Black Diamond Outdoor Supplies will be at the Sydney 4WD Show at Eastern Creek on the 17-19 October.
I'm going to drop in and get another water pump to replace the standard Tvan one, as theirs are heaps quieter.

Totally impressed - excellent job mate. Just need to make sure the bride does not see this thread  ;D ;D Question, does the unit need to be installed vertically? or can it lie on its back? Cheers

Jeff,
The unit has to be installed vertically to operate, but I can't see why it can't lie on its back to travel.
If you have the Front Box it fits perfectly standing up & only takes up about 140mm of room in the sliding drawer.
The mounting bracket is just bolted through the drawer slides and drawer with M6 Bolts & Nyloc Nuts.
The digital water outlet temperature display fitted perfectly with the handle in the drawer.
Yes the bride will be wrapt, with a hot shower, the kitchen connection was an added bonus (it's what happens if you leave a man in his shed for too long unattended)
I got the Solenoids online at, www.nymet.com.au they are a 12v DC with 1/2" barb outlet

All the hose fittings and connectors I just got at Bunnings

Wayne, is the pump you installed to pump from a creek, self priming?
Thanks, russell

Yes, it is, but the suction lift height is only about 2m

Thanks Wayne,

This setup looks terrific.  We've been fiddling around with options for HWS's for a while and as we plan to do Cape York next year we want to get something happening.  I've sent your measurements  for the bracket to a mate and am in the process of purchasing the unit.  We love our Tvan and this will make our MK3  Murranji the complete travel machine.

Really appreciate your sharing of all your work.

That's awesome Rob, let me know how you go.
Be careful of the height of the unit you buy as some are taller than others and might not fit in the front box.
